Apologies, Acknowledgement and ‘Repairing’ Past Harms in Transitional Justice

The rationale for the stream is that it fits squarely within the socio-legal sphere. It is not possible to discuss apologies, acknowledgment and efforts to ‘repair’ past harms without exploring how such processes interact with law.

The convenors of this topic welcome papers which analyse the relationship between apologies and:

  • the law
  • reparations
  • acknowledgment
  • truth
  • reconciliation

We welcome papers drawing on national, European or international case-studies, as well as theoretical analyses of the above themes.

For further informal discussion please feel free to email the stream convenors.
